We make the bold statement that eating Vego’s is better for you. Why? Isn’t it basically burgers and fries that have been grilled and deep fried we hear you say? That’s true, and while we are somewhat better than most traditional fast food outlets when it comes to nutrition, the main benefit from eating plant-based food is your gut health.

The sobering fact is, Australia has one of the highest rates of bowel/colorectal cancer in the western world. Doctors almost unanimously agree that this is believed to be caused by too much meat in our diet. This is something that has developed over the last four decades as we’ve become used to having any food we want when we want. Ask your grandparents… they’ll tell you when they were young they predominantly ate a plant-based diet with only small servings of meat. Soups, casseroles were on pasta-bakes were on the weekly menu and the Sunday roast was only on Sundays!

Vegetables

Nutritionists recommend more vegetables in a balanced diet is the way to best way to keep healthy. Its all about balance.

We applaud anyone who adheres to a vegetarian diet, and our hats are off to those who can go full vegan, but all we ask of regular eaters is to introduce a bit more plant-based for into your regular eating habits.

For instance, instead of going for a chicken schnitty for Friday lunch, grab a Vego’s burger and fries. It’s about the same price, just as filling, just as tasty and you’ll feel better for it.

The planet will thank you and Saturday morning you’re bowels will thank you, too. Sounds like a win win to us!
